As featured in our newsletter....

We need more PAL volunteers for the very rewarding visit at Potomac Ridge (now Adventist Hospital), a psychiatric hospital in Gaithersburg. We meet with teens in a group in the gym usually, or in good weather in a fenced courtyard - so the dogs can be off leash.  Because the children earn the privilege, they are eager to see & play with the dogs. It's so interesting, though, when there is occasionally a child who is afraid of dogs, to see them at the end of the visit usually  brushing, hugging or talking to a dog.  They love to give some of the dogs commands and a treat when they obey, or taking their leash and just running with them.  The visit is at 3:00 on the 1st & 3rd Thursdays.

And don't forget that the PAL Dog Care Exchange is back! Would you like to have an alternative to a kennel for your dog when you go away? There is a list of PALs who informally exchange dog care by just calling anyone on the list to ask if they can take your dog(s) during the given dates. You just need to send your name, address, phone and/or email with a brief description of your dog, M or F, your home/yard, & hours away from home daily to Sheila Cohen.
