HAVE YOU EVER NEEDED A PAL?

And the studies prove it! In August 2010, ABC World News Tonight and Good Morning America reported on the important role of dogs in improving reading skills. All across America, programs just like PAL Club are bringing dogs in the classroom to read with struggling students. The encouragement and confidence that a dog provides allows children to learn without the fear of being judged for their mistakes.

HAVE YOU EVER NEEDED A PAL?
Lots of folks do need a PAL, and in early 2010 a group of committed PAL leaders - the Board, a former Board President and the Executive Director -all believed so deeply in the power of the human-animal bond that they created a $20,000 matching pool of funds. By March 1st, PAL had raised $20,000 to meet this match - THANK YOU to all of our beautiful volunteers, donors and friends who make this work possible. Won't you join us and give now?Your gift will help the kids of PAL Club who are reading with dogs - learning to love animals and get good grades.
Your gift will help the elderly who are petting and cuddling with dogs - finding joy and meaning in wagging tails and upturned noses.

HAVE YOU EVER NEEDED A BOOST? Ever found yourself in a situation where the kindness of strangers made your life better?
Some of DC's kids need a boost. They contain all the joy of life, all the desire to learn, yet they struggle with reading, math, science - and sitting still in their chairs.
PAL understands that a child's natural affinity for animals is a most excellent way to create a spark for academic learning and inspire positive behavior. PAL's year-round after-school and summer program is a serious effort to improve academic skills, increase friendly behavior and give children the tools to succeed in the classroom and beyond.
And because animals are involved, it's a whole lot of fun.
